The fishing in September has been excellent despite the low water. Generally the best bets are to run a small dry down channels in the riffles, or to use a heay nymph euro-style (on a long leader with a longer light rod) in the pools. This often produces the better fish, but misses out on the pleasures casting neat loops!
On Saturday 24th September, Mike Bilson had a cracking session, reporting 3 grayling, and a lonely salmon parr – north winds kept the hatches minimal, but a size 16 bead head nymph and black gnat options produced the goods.
